Summary

Dawn Schafer is the newest member of The Baby-sitters Club。 While she's still adjusting to life in Stoneybrook after moving from sunny California, she's eager to accept her first big job。 But taking care of the three Barrett kids would be too much for any baby-sitter。 The house is always a mess, the kids are out of control, and Mrs。 Barrett never does any of the things she promises。 On top of all that, Dawn wants to fit in with the other members of the BSC, but she can't figure out how to get along with Kristy。 Was joining The Baby-sitters Club a mistake?

Cute story。 I love these graphic novels。

It was good and I finshed a while back。

I wish they hadn't switched illustrators, but I understand why they did。 Raina has her own books now and it isn't feasible for one person to do all 100+ books。 I wish they hadn't switched illustrators, but I understand why they did。 Raina has her own books now and it isn't feasible for one person to do all 100+ books。 。。。more

this is probably my favorite installment。 the change in art style is quite abrupt, I know there’s a new artist doing the graphic novel, but it was still quite abrupt for me。but they still keep the same colors- which allows for more cohesion。 although I must say, I like the comical faces of this art styleI also like Dawn as a character。 I just like this one more than the rest。

there is a person named Dawn and she is baby sitting three kids 。 Her mom is getting married to her friends dad 。They are very excited for the wedding 。

The subject is a little scarier than some of the other books, but a great read and an excellent example of creating boundaries and talking to adults。 (I was having some serious 3rd grade flash backs to reading the original story。)

Revisiting childhood with a graphic interpretation of one of my favorite series when I was a little kid。

I cannot tell you how many times I read this in the fifth grade。 This was definitely my favorite, with second being Mary-Anne Saves the Day。 I loved the art-style, and I looooved her and Mary-Anne。 They were my biggest role models at that point。 :)

I really love that this series deals with some meaty topics (divorce, moving away, new families etc) in such a brilliant way。 This one is done brilliantly by Gale Galligan。 The rest of this series have been such a hot in my classroom that I can’t wait to add more!

It’s the BSC adventure where Dawn gets away with being super judgy about how a BSC client lives her life。 Single parent, Mrs Barrett, is desperately trying to keep her family afloat - caring for three kids under 10, job hunting, managing a messy divorce。 So what if the house is kinda messy? Okay, so it’s very messy but the poor woman is dealing with a lot。 Let’s cut her some slack。Usually I try to read the graphic novel as soon as I’ve finished the book。 I was unable to jump the library queue so It’s the BSC adventure where Dawn gets away with being super judgy about how a BSC client lives her life。 Single parent, Mrs Barrett, is desperately trying to keep her family afloat - caring for three kids under 10, job hunting, managing a messy divorce。 So what if the house is kinda messy? Okay, so it’s very messy but the poor woman is dealing with a lot。 Let’s cut her some slack。Usually I try to read the graphic novel as soon as I’ve finished the book。 I was unable to jump the library queue so the people who actually reserved this graphic novel before me got to read it first (shock horror!) so it’s been several weeks since I read the book。 I still remember the basics fairly well but the differences I would usually point out between book and graphic novel have faded from my mind。 So I’ll just focus on the two big ones。Book: Mallory is more than capable of helping out but she’s still counted as one of the kids the BSC babysit。Graphic Novel: The beginning of the graphic novel marks the first day that Mallory is a BSC Junior Member。 The BSC meeting that afternoon is when the great interrogation of Mallory’s knowledge of anything even remotely related to babysitting takes place。My currently unresolved question: How is book #14, Hello, Mallory, going to be adapted to a graphic novel if the main plot point has already happened?Book: Mimi is all good。Graphic Novel: Janine is helping Mimi with her flash cards。I’m guessing this is different because book #7, Claudia and Mean Janine, was graphic novel #4。 Why has this series been adapted out of order?I’ve actually been avoiding reading #7 because I’m not ready to face the rest of Mimi’s story yet。 I’ll try to summon some brave in the near future。On a happier note, I finally got to see the bizzer sign, which the Pike kids invented, in action。 It was worth the wait, although (just between you and I) it doesn’t look quite as trauma inducing as I’d hoped。[image error]Blog - https://schizanthusnerd。com 。。。more

A comfortable read for an adult, a good read for a kid aged 10 to 13 about rules, making limits, family and dealing with friendship woes。 It has the feeling of the years the novels of the Babysitters Club came out, dealing with some of the "uniqueness's" of the time (divorce, moving, etc。)。 Or things that are really "old hat" today。 Still, a good story to just sit back and read。 The graphic novel illustrations are bold, bright and perfect to help lighten a few of the more serious parts。 A comfortable read for an adult, a good read for a kid aged 10 to 13 about rules, making limits, family and dealing with friendship woes。 It has the feeling of the years the novels of the Babysitters Club came out, dealing with some of the "uniqueness's" of the time (divorce, moving, etc。)。 Or things that are really "old hat" today。 Still, a good story to just sit back and read。 The graphic novel illustrations are bold, bright and perfect to help lighten a few of the more serious parts。 。。。more

This was such a great book! I completely loved it, and I like how Raina Telgemeier and Gale Galligan illustrated this book so beautifully。 Certainly a read again book!

Noa

It was really good。 Never ever go with divorced parents or strangers。

Jennifer Birmingham

Good middle grade book。 It discusses what can happen when parents get divorced。 A bit melodramatic。

Elliott

Wow, these are such good books, am I right?

Custody battles are no joke, and Dawn gets more than she bargained for when one of her charges goes missing! A really good story (as always) and it had a lot to say about the guidelines that baby-sitters need to set for themselves。

Having read the original, I may be a bit biased but I loved this adaption。 I just love how it deals with such mature themes。 I really resonated with Buddy who just wants someone to depend on when you can’t depend on your parents。 It’s really heart breaking but so common。 My only criticism is that they changed it a bit from the original。 Mallory is in this and I don’t recall her becoming a member in the original? Also, one of my favourite parts of the original is when Kristy and Dawn bond in the Having read the original, I may be a bit biased but I loved this adaption。 I just love how it deals with such mature themes。 I really resonated with Buddy who just wants someone to depend on when you can’t depend on your parents。 It’s really heart breaking but so common。 My only criticism is that they changed it a bit from the original。 Mallory is in this and I don’t recall her becoming a member in the original? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I just finished it and OH BOY! It was marvelous! My favourite book from the series so far (even though my opinion might change after reading "Boy-crazy Stacey", but we'll see)!!!Not only did we get to discover this whole new FANTASTIC character, Dawn Schafer, but we got some pretty good "action" to call it so。 I mean a kidnap in a book about baby-sitters?! That's pretty crazy if you ask me。 Also, as a divorced kid, it was really great to see yet another family with split parents。 Aaaaand I loved I just finished it and OH BOY! It was marvelous! That's pretty crazy if you ask me。 Also, as a divorced kid, it was really great to see yet another family with split parents。 Aaaaand I loved that we got to see Kristy's point of view on the moving out stuff (I really miss her older brothers though)。 I can't wait to start reading the next book to see how the wedding will go。I'm the kind of person who doesn't like the idea of things changing, so I was really sceptical at first, more than I should have。 Good thing I realised that Gale is so darn talented, she's "brilliant", to quote Raina who, by the way, couldn't have been more right: G。 Galligan literally SPOILED us with her amazing illustrations! It was EYE CANDY!!This book made Dawn my favourite character and also made me relate more with Kristy。 I also loved "the impossible trio", Dawn is such a great sitter。 I loved seeing Mary Anne changing into the girl she wants to be。 I really can't wait to buy the eight book, "Logan Likes Mary Anne!", because Gale's representation of Mary Anne is so cute。 Talking about cuteness, Kristy's face on page 147 and almost every single panel with Marnie melted my heart。There's one thing that I didn't quite like though: Claudia's new "design" (to call it so)。 I know everyone has their own style, but I just like Raina's representation of Claud more (please don't come at me ;-;)Imma put the date and hour I wrote this review just because :3 29。XII。2020 - 00:05 。。。more
